Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. Pediatric/ Family Medicine Billing experience is a plus!

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit medical claims using EPIC systems, ensuring compliance with insurance guidelines.
• Review patient records for accuracy, including medical coding such as DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance providers and patients to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, medical records, and collection efforts to ensure transparency and compliance.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to verify correct coding for procedures, diagnoses, and treatments to maximize reimbursement.
• Stay current with industry regulations, including updates in ICD coding standards and medical billing regulations, to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Assist in the review of medical records for accuracy and completeness prior to claim submission.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing or medical office administration with a strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare documentation.
• Knowledge of DRG classifications, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical coding best practices.
• Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR platforms used for managing patient records and billing processes.
• Experience in medical collections, following up on unpaid claims, and resolving billing issues efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously.
• Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately for proper coding and billing purposes.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
