Medical Billing Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our growing team. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate coding and timely submission of claims. This role requires a strong commitment to accuracy, coding practices, and the ability to stay focused and self-paced.

Duties

• Review and verify patient information and insurance coverage for accuracy.
• Perform medical billing duties utilizing Athena EMR software.
• Utilize CPT coding and ICD-10 codes to ensure proper billing.
• Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and conducting medical collections as necessary.
• Collaborate with management to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure timely payments.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD coding, CPT coding).
• Experience with Athena software preferred, but not required.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, management and insurance representatives.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
