Medical Billing Specialist

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our growing healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical billing processes, insurance claims, and revenue cycle management. Prior medical billing experience is required, and experience using the eClinicalWorks EHR system is highly preferred.

Position Summary

The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing insurance claims, payment posting, claim follow-up, denial resolution, and ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for medical services rendered. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical office environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities Included but not limited to:

  • Submit electronic and paper insurance claims accurately and timely
  • Review and correct claim rejections and denials
  • Follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims with insurance companies
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Post insurance and patient payments
  • Process patient statements and assist with account inquiries
  • Review coding for accuracy and communicate with providers regarding documentation needs
  • Maintain compliance with insurance guidelines and billing regulations
  • Work accounts receivable reports and aging balances
  • Handle prior authorizations and referral tracking when needed
  • Communicate professionally with patients, providers, and insurance representatives
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with additional administrative or billing-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Medical billing experience is required
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding practices preferred
  • Experience with insurance claim processing and denial management
  • Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks highly preferred
  • Strong computer and data entry skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a physician office or clinic setting
  • Familiarity with revenue cycle management processes
  • Billing certification is a plus, but not required

Pay: $13.00 - $17.00 per hour
