Medical Billing Specialist

Capital City Therapy Group is looking for an upbeat, friendly billing specialist to work in a great atmosphere with a very fun and friendly staff. We are looking for full time billing specialist to join our growing team in providing both clinic and home based therapy in Lexington, NE Columbia, and Greenville.

As CAPITAL CITY THERAPY GROUP our mission is to provide quality services that help children increase overall independence and reach their full potential. CCTG provides speech, feeding and occupational therapy services to children aged birth to 10 years old. We work closely with parents, pediatricians, early interventionists and other healthcare professionals to ensure our kids get an individualized plan of care.

Job Summary

Performs advanced billing functions. Ensures that all provider visits are accurately loaded in a timely manner. Works very closely with the office manager, business office staff, clinical staff and all providers to enhance the workflow of the entire department. May be needed to greet patients and visitors, answers telephone and performs a variety of routine duties. Performs advanced billing functions including the reconciliation of appointment schedules, correct coding of visits, and coordinating completed process to 3rd party billing administrator. Provides daily oversight of all billing operations and coordinates all billing activities with the team.

May require the Billing Specialist to perform other tasks as needed or assigned by the Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year of work experience in a related area that demonstrates professionalism, inclusive of the ability to work well with others, provide outstanding customer service to patients and handle stressful situations in a constructive manner.
• Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
• Required Certifications/Licensure: None.
• Required Training: Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel.); 6 Month training/probationary period to demonstrate proficiency.

Essential Functions

• Oversight of all billing functions for approximately thirty-five (35) providers.
• Manage work-flow of all billing procedures including, but not limited to:
• Ensuring the proper pre-registration of new patients into the system
• Follow up on reports to ensure accuracy of patient schedules and call-backs to patients as needed
• Loading new billing templates
• Rescheduling patients due to provider absences (planned and unplanned)
• Notifying key departments of billing changes
• Apply clerical and clinical knowledge for the purposes of billing patient appointments
• May be responsible for other duties associated with billing.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Answer telephone, perform billing responsibilities, provide call transfers to appropriate area as needed, and generally assist clients with questions.
• Serve as the designated trainer to coworkers for all activities related to billing.
• Provide trouble-shooting and problem resolution for all billing issues.
• Perform billing audits as necessary.
• Exhibit proficiency in other front office clerical areas of the clinic.
• Must fill-in when needed at other clerical areas as requested by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
