POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST

DEPARTMENT: ADMINISTRATION

JOB SUMMARY

Bills for all services provided by Arkansas Pathology Associates in a timely manner.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Reports to business manager and CEO.

Requires limited contact with clients. Contacts may be in person or by phone.

The billing specialist may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job related duties requested by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

BILLING AND OTHER RESPONSBILITIES

• Works to resolve all questions or discrepancies regarding patient information, including but not limited to: patient demographics, ICD10 codes, CPT codes, insurance information.
• Ensures that all requisitions and reports have necessary information and sends the information to our billing company in a timely and accurate manner.
• Answers calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ensures that all requested hard copies of pathology reports are sent to the correct facility in a timely manner.
• Mails negative pap letters.
• Scans and attaches outside cases into Laboratory Information System.
• Performs a monthly billing QC of all case types.
• Adheres to all corporate policies and procedures and governmental regulations such as

HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Billing experience preferred.
• Laboratory experience highly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position requires accuracy and attention to detail.
