Medical Billing Specialist

We have a full-time opportunity for a qualified Medical Billing Specialist for our busy, growing OB/GYN practice. We are seeking a self-motivated, reliable individual with a minimum of 2 or more years of medical billing experience. Requirements include:

• Excellent knowledge of insurance carrier billing and reimbursement with knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10,CPT and HCPS codes
• In-depth understanding of explanation of benefits (EOBs)
• Perform insurance eligibility verification
• Obtain pre-certification/authorization of obstetrical, surgical and diagnostic procedures
• Responsible for charge entry within Electronic Health Record
• Using knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 to post delivery, surgical and hospital procedures
• Ability to prepare and submit clean claims to third party payers electronically
• Answer questions from providers, patients, staff, and insurance companies .
• Answer multi-line telephone, take accurate messages, screen and direct telephone calls and provide general information in a professional manner
• Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone.
• Correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
• Perform follow up with Medicaid and Commercial insurance companies on unpaid insurance accounts identified through aging reports
• Investigate and appeal denied claims
• Receiving and reviewing patient's charts and documents for verification and accuracy
• Complete disability and FMLA forms
• Process medical records requests and completion of additional information requests as requested by insurance companies
• Identify trends, and carrier issues relating to billing and reimbursements. Report findings to Team Lead and/or Supervisor
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
• Excellent communication and telephone skills
• Knowledge of medical insurance/authorization process

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Medical insurance and coding experience preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
