Medical Billing Specialist – DME / Insurance Claims

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Billing Specialist with expertise in Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and insurance claims processing. Duties

  • Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims for DME products using appropriate coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding.
  • Review medical records and documentation to verify the accuracy of billing information and ensure compliance with insurance policies.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, communicating effectively with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage medical collections by contacting patients and insurers to secure payments while maintaining professional rapport.
  • Maintain detailed records within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to track claim status, payments, and patient information.
  • Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding standards, and insurance policies to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation requirements and improve billing accuracy.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of medical billing processes specific to DME products and insurance claims procedures.
  • Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, DRG classification, and ICD coding systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for efficient claim processing and record keeping.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interactions with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.
  • Ability to analyze complex medical bills and resolve discrepancies quickly.

Pay: $17.75 - $30.52 per hour
