Medical Billing Specialist (Part-Time)

Metro XtraCare PC is a primary and urgent care clinic providing quality healthcare to patients in Windsor Mill, Maryland. We are hiring an individual for the following role: Medical Billing Specialist (Part Time). The Medical Billing Specialist will perform administrative duties in a fast-paced environment.

Our hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The Medical Billing Specialist will work in-person one day per week from 9:00am to 4:00pm. There will be potential to increase to two days per week if mutually agreeable.

• Correct, resubmit claims and/or appeal claim determinations as necessary to ensure payment (electronically and via mail)
• Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems (experience with Athenahealth's billing system, specifically, is required)
• Respond to patient billing inquiries via phone and email
• Present oneself in a professional manner when speaking to patients, staff members, and insurance representatives
• Prepare weekly reports indicating status of resubmitted/appealed claims
• 1-2+ years of medical billing and credentialing experience
• Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication in English
• Proficient computer skills: Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook
• Proficient mathematical skills
• High school diploma or GED
• Sharp attention to detail

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
