Medical Billing Specialist Part Time, On Site (no remote work) S Tulsa

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated experienced and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our on-site team in an eyecare practice in South Tulsa. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical and vision billing and coding, with a focus on accurate claim submission and revenue cycle management. This role requires a proactive approach to managing medical records, ensuring compliance with coding standards, and facilitating efficient billing processes. The Medical Billing Specialist will play a vital role in supporting the financial health of our healthcare facility by ensuring timely and precise billing operations.

Duties

• Review and process medical claims using current coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Verify patient insurance information and eligibility to facilitate smooth claim submission and reimbursement.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to document, retrieve, and update patient medical records efficiently.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation of diagnoses, procedures, and treatments for billing purposes.
• Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid or denied claims, initiating collections when necessary.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications to support appropriate billing practices for inpatient stays.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and hospital policies related to medical billing and records management.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing with familiarity in medical coding practices including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG classifications.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
• Experience working with EMR and EHR systems (Crystal PM a plus)for accurate data entry and retrieval.
• Knowledge of medical collection procedures and accounts receivable management.
• Excellent attention to detail to ensure precise coding and billing accuracy.
• Ability to interpret complex medical records and translate them into appropriate billing codes.
