Job Title: Billing Specialist

Company Overview:

Role Summary:

The Payment Poster is responsible for accurately and efficiently posting payments, adjustments, and patient responsibilities into the practice management system. This role ensures timely reconciliation of payments, proper documentation of denials, and communication with billing representatives to resolve discrepancies. The Payment Poster plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial records and supporting the overall revenue cycle process.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Review patient records and prepare accurate electronic or paper claims according to health insurance and internal company protocols

· Submit clean electronic claim batches to clearinghouses for processing

· Research and resubmit rejected/denied claims quickly and efficiently

· Work Outstanding Unpaid Claims

· Post patient copays

· Patient Phone Calls

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Complete timely and accurate posting of all payment types, including:
• Live checks (within 24 hours)
• Online credit card payments (next business day)
• EFT deposits (within 72 hours)
• Send secondary claims as appropriate.
• Record batch totals with date and initials on payment receipt spreadsheet.
• Balance batches and run daily transaction reports.
• Post correct adjustments and ensure proper transfer of patient responsibilities.
• Verify all EFT deposits and scanned checks are fully posted by month end.
• Communicate and document payment denials promptly in the practice management system and notify the appropriate billing representative.
• Identify underpaid claims compared to allowed/contracted amounts and escalate to AR or Director.
• Generate and batch patient statements electronically on a weekly basis.
• Provide cross-coverage support in charge entry as needed.
• Stay current on medical billing and coding procedures, payer guidelines, and federal program requirements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
