Medical Coder and Biller

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Medical Coder and Biller to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties

• Review and analyze medical records, including clinical notes, laboratory reports, and diagnostic results to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes.
• Ensure accurate coding for diagnoses and procedures in accordance with current coding guidelines and payer requirements.
• Prepare and submit clean claims for insurance billing using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices to maximize revenue recovery.
• Maintain detailed documentation of coding decisions, billing activities, and correspondence related to patient accounts.
• Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or resolve coding discrepancies promptly.

Experience

• Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10 diagnosis coding systems as well as CPT coding for procedures.
• Familiarity with DRG classifications used for hospital reimbursement processes.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation, coding, and billing purposes.
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology essential for accurate code assignment.
• Knowledge of medical records management and compliance standards related to healthcare billing practices.
• Prior experience with medical collection processes is a plus.
