Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Coder & Biller to join our dynamic neurosurgery team. You will play a crucial role in our financial health by ensuring accurate coding, timely claim submission, and efficient revenue cycle management.

While we are looking for a skilled billing professional, priority will be given to candidates with direct experience in Neurosurgery billing and proficiency in the Aprima EHR system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coding & Documentation: Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Review neurosurgical patient records to ensure documentation supports the services billed.
  • Claims Management: Prepare and submit clean claims to private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Account Follow-Up: Proactively follow up on unpaid claims, manage denials, and submit appeals with necessary documentation.
  • Compliance: Maintain organized medical records and ensure strict adherence to HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
  • Communication: Serve as a bridge between healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to resolve billing inquiries.
  • Industry Trends: Stay current on changes in neurosurgery-specific coding practices and insurance policy updates.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Proven experience in medical billing and/or collections.
  • Proficiency in ICD-10 coding and a strong grasp of medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for professional interaction with providers and patients.
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member.

Preferred (Priority Candidates):

  • System Experience: Previous hands-on experience with Aprima EHR/EMR.
  • Specialty Experience: Previous experience billing for Neurosurgery practices.
  • Professional coding certification (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is a plus.

Schedule & Requirements

  • Shift: 8-hour shift, Monday–Friday.
  • Location: Must be able to work in-person in Corpus Christi, TX (78404).

Pay: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
