Job Summary
The Medical Coder is responsible for assigning accurate medical codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services, while managing patient billing, insurance claims submission, and payment follow-up. This role ensures compliance with coding standards, insurance regulations, and timely reimbursement to support hospital revenue operations.
- Salary Range QAR 4,000 to QAR 5,500
Key Responsibilities
Medical Coding
- Review patient medical records, physician notes, lab results, and discharge summaries for completeness and accuracy.
- Assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Ensure accurate coding for inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and day-care services.
- Verify documentation supports coded services and seek clarification from physicians when needed.
- Maintain coding accuracy in accordance with hospital policies and payer requirements.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and payer guidelines in Qatar.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records and billing data.
- Assist with internal audits and revenue cycle reporting.
- Stay updated on coding changes, insurance policies, and billing regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Health Information Management, Medical Records, Finance, Nursing, Pharmacy, or related healthcare field.
- Preferred certifications:
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
- Medical Billing certification
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in medical coding and healthcare billing.
- Experience in hospital, clinic, or insurance settings preferred.
- GCC experience preferred, especially in Qatar or United Arab Emirates.
- Must have valid visa in Qatar with NOC

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and insurance billing processes
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR and hospital billing systems
- Knowledge of insurance claim portals and denial management
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and coordination skills
