Medical Coder - UAE

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and certified UAE IP Coder responsible for accurately reviewing and assigning medical codes for inpatient records in accordance with UAE healthcare regulations, payer guidelines, and international coding standards. The candidate must ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely submission of claims to optimize reimbursement and minimize denials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review inpatient medical records, including discharge summaries, operative notes, lab reports, and physician documentation.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes as applicable.
• Ensure coding compliance with DOH (Department of Health – Abu Dhabi), DHA (Dubai Health Authority), and MOH (Ministry of Health UAE) guidelines.
• Maintain accuracy and productivity standards as defined by the organization.
• Identify documentation gaps and raise physician queries when required.
• Ensure proper DRG assignment and validate coding for reimbursement optimization.
• Work closely with billing and AR teams to resolve coding-related denials.
• Participate in internal and external coding audits.
• Stay updated with UAE payer regulations and coding updates.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, or related field.
• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in UAE Inpatient Coding.
• Strong knowledge of DRG coding and UAE payer guidelines.
• Familiarity with hospital information systems and EMR platforms.

Certifications (Preferred/Required):

• CPC / CCS / CIC certification (AAPC or AHIMA preferred).
• Valid coding certification is mandatory.

Skills Required:

• Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Excellent analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to meet productivity and accuracy benchmarks.
• Knowledge of denial management related to IP coding.
