Job Description

The Medical Coding Specialist will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and accurately assigning medical codes to patient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all coding guidelines, improve claim accuracy, and support efficient revenue cycle management.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret clinical documentation to assign appropriate medical codes.
• Ensure accurate coding for diagnoses, procedures, and services according to ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS standards.
• Collaborate with billing and credentialing teams to ensure compliance with payer requirements.
• Audit and recheck coding accuracy to minimize claim denials and rejections.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, payer policies, and healthcare regulations.
• Meet daily and weekly productivity and quality targets.
• Handle confidential patient information with professionalism and discretion.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferably in life sciences or healthcare).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in medical coding (freshers with strong training can also apply).
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Certification (CPC, COC, or equivalent) will be a strong plus.
• Excellent command of English (written and verbal).
• Ability to work night shift (6:00 PM – 2:00 AM).
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to meet tight deadlines.
