We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coding Specialist with wound care experience to join our team full time.

Position Overview

The Medical Coding Specialist will be responsible for accurate coding, documentation review, and billing support for wound care services provided in skilled nursing facilities and long-term care environments. The ideal candidate is highly organized, experienced in wound care coding, and comfortable working with providers and clinical staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for wound care services
• Ensure accurate coding for procedures such as debridement, grafts, and advanced wound treatments
• Verify documentation supports coding and billing requirements
• Communicate with providers and clinical staff to clarify documentation when needed
• Assist with claim review and denial management related to coding issues
• Stay current on Medicare guidelines, wound care coding updates, and payer requirements
• Support compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies

Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) preferred
• 2+ years medical coding experience
• Experience with wound care coding strongly preferred
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
• Familiarity with Medicare and long-term care billing guidelines
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
