Medical Doctor

Job purpose

The Medical Doctor is a caring, compassionate, and committed provider who uses critical thinking and professional experience to provide the highest level of care. The incumbent will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They will communicate and work collaboratively with the general practice team, the behavioral health team, and all other stakeholders to meet the needs of our patients.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive medical evaluations, diagnoses medical conditions, and develops individualized treatment plans.
  • Provides primary care services, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, and preventive care.
  • Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals, such as psychologists, social workers, and nurses, to ensure comprehensive patient care. Works under collaboration agreements as needed.
  • Consults with specialists when needed for complex medical cases.
  • Acts as a resource for fellow healthcare providers, sharing expertise in HRT or endocrinology.
  • Educates patients on their medical conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures.
  • Provides counseling and guidance to patients on lifestyle modifications and health promotion.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for all patients.
  • Completes required documentation in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Adheres to clinical guidelines and best practices in patient care.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and contributes to the clinic's commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.
  • Attends outreach events as needed.
  • Supervises APRN/PA providers as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Florida state medical license.
  • Board certification in general practice, family medicine or internal medicine is preferred.
  • Current DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) registration.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
  • Empathy and compassion for individuals with mental health challenges.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care.

Working conditions

  • Prolonged periods standing, walking, and/or sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required. Work may be required in various environments as needed by project/activity.

Physical requirements

  • May require the occasional ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
