Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
- Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records)
- Verify insurance coverage
- Collect and review patient documentation, including intake forms, medical history, and consent forms, ensuring completeness and accuracy
- Assist with billing procedures by coding procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and supporting medical billing processes
- Manage appointment reminders, rescheduling, cancellations, and follow-up communications to enhance patient care plans and clinic efficiency
Experience
- Previous clinic or medical office experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing practices
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes including Medicare and private insurers
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with typing speed of at least 10-key for efficient data entry
- Exceptional patient service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical support experience
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations
- Experience working in a medical clinic is preferred
