We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Front Desk Receptionist specializing in Ophthalmology to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage patient check-in and check-out processes using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and conduct insurance verification to facilitate seamless billing processes.
- Schedule appointments accurately using medical scheduling software; coordinate follow-up visits and procedures in accordance with clinic protocols.
- Collect and review patient information, update medical records, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Assist with clinical documentation review, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing tasks to support accurate reimbursement.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; handle patient inquiries, appointment rescheduling, and general questions efficiently.
- Maintain organized medical records, file documents appropriately, and support health information management activities within the clinic setting.
- Support front desk operations by performing clerical duties such as data entry, filing, typing with 10-key accuracy, and using Microsoft Office tools for documentation purposes.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers by coordinating care plans and ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding documentation or test results.
Skills
- Proven experience in a medical office environment, preferably within ophthalmology or clinics utilizing EMR systems like Epic or Meditech or Mod Med.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to ophthalmology and general healthcare practices.
- Familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures including Medicare requirements.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with dental or medical practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette; ability to handle multi-line phone systems confidently.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Prior clinic or hospital experience involving intake procedures, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and administrative support is preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and health information management practices to ensure confidentiality at all times.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to review documentation thoroughly while maintaining accuracy under pressure. Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
