Medical Front Dest Receptionist

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Front Desk Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. Your responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service at all times
  • Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks using systems such as Availitly, Advanced MD, or plan related websites.
  • Schedule patient appointments efficiently using practice management system
  • Collect and update patient information accurately, including demographic data and Insurance information
  • Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate patient demographics and phone numbers.
  • Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, practicing proper phone etiquette and effective communication skills
  • Maintain organized medical records and ensure proper filing of documents in electronic medical records
  • Support clinic operations by managing front desk activities such as patient intake, scanning and indexing documents for provider and staff review
  • Utilize computer skills to operate various EMR systems like Epic, Allscripts, Athenahealth, for documentation review and data entry

Skills

  • The ability to multi-task is imperative
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and medical billing practices
  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, eclinical, or Allscripts.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
  • Experience with insurance verification process
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
  • Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
  • Prior clinic experience ensures familiarity with healthcare workflows and documentation
  • Competency in office management tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning documents, and managing multi-line phone systems
