Overview
We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented, and compassionate Insurance verification Specialist to join our busy gynecology practice. This position serves as one of the first point of contact for patients while also ensuring accurate insurance verification and eligibility prior to appointments. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customerservice skills, strong organizational abilities, and experience working in a medical office environment.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits accurately by contacting insurance providers and reviewing policy details.
- Obtain and document prior authorizations for procedures, treatments, or services as required by managed care plans.
- Communicate insurance coverage details, patient responsibilities, and benefit limitations to patients.
- Review and interpret medical records, including medical coding such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality during all verification processes.
- Identify and resolve insurance discrepancies before scheduled visit.
- Maintain detailed records of all verification activities, updates, and communications in the medical records system.
- Assist in resolving claim denials or coverage issues by liaising with insurance companies and providing necessary documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical office settings or dental offices with familiarity in insurance verification processes.
- Minimum 1-2 years of medical office experience.
- Strong knowledge of managed care plans, medical terminology, and medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.
- Experience working with medical records management and understanding of HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
- Office experience with proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems or other medical software tools. EClinical Works experience is a plus.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
