- 2 year / Associate Degree in Medical Technology (Required)
- OR meet CLIA minimum qualifications for high complexity testing personnel (Required)
- 4 year / Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology (Preferred)
- 0 - 1 year Ability to perform in one or more laboratory departments as a clinical laboratory scientist (Preferred)
Required Certifications/Licensures:
- Certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA, AAB, or other agency approved by the hiring department
MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST JOB DUTIES:
- Provides assistance to the department in accurate and timely results of tests
- Produces accurate and timely results according to established procedures
- Works independently with little or no supervision
- Uses sound clinical judgment when evaluating laboratory results
- Documents work performed and recognizes abnormal and critical results
- Maintains all laboratory equipment properly as evidenced by proper documentation
- Monitors the quality assurance system, including quality control

- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs)
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time
- Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs
- For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate
