At Valley Regional Hospital, patients are the center of our coordinated care system and right now we have an opening for a Medical Technologist, or Technician to join our team.
The primary responsibility of the Medical Technologist, or Technician is:
- Incorporates appropriate assessment and intervention and/or technical skills in all interactions and/or delivery of patient care.
- Organizes multitask workload; prioritizes tasks/work; seeks assistance; collects/integrates data from multiple sources; organizes job tasks or delivers care for multiple tasks or patients, per scope of position. Maintains awareness and contributes to department-specific quality initiatives
- Acknowledges limits of experience and capability; identifies learning needs and seeks resources; utilizes equipment and supplies appropriately; maintains a clean, orderly environment of work; ensures traffic control in “sensitive areas”; seeks out and accepts feedback; requests assistance appropriately.
- Perform a variety of specialized lab tests in all areas of the clinical laboratory: blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology/immunology, including demonstrable knowledge of expected lab values.
The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
- Medical technologist (MT) — Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences
- Medical Technician (MLT) – Associates of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences
- Eligible for Certification as an MT or MLT (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Phlebotomy experience
- Basic computer knowledge: Microsoft Office
- Must be able to pass a color deficiency test
