Edwards & Ragatz, P.A. is Plainitiff's litigation firm advocating for individuals and families in serious personal injury and medical malpractice cases. We’re seeking an experienced, detail-oriented paralegal to support complex litigation matters from intake through trial. This is an in-office role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of deadlines, and communicates with empathy and professionalism.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage medical malpractice and personal injury cases from intake through resolution/trial
- Draft and assist with filing pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, notices, and litigation correspondence
- Track and maintain all deadlines (court rules, scheduling orders, discovery, SOL)
- Obtain, organize, and analyze medical records and billing; prepare medical chronologies, summaries, and record indexes
- Coordinate with clients regarding treatment updates, records authorizations, discovery responses, and case status
- Assist with expert coordination (records packages, disclosures support, scheduling, deposition prep)
- Support depositions, mediations, and trial prep: deposition/trial binders, exhibit lists, witness files, PowerPoint presentations and document management
- Prepare and organize settlement demand materials and damages documentation
- Track and assist with liens (including health insurance/Medicare/Medicaid as applicable) and related requests
- Maintain orderly electronic/paper files and ensure productions are complete, accurate, and timely
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years paralegal experience (or heavy litigation) in medical malpractice and personal injury
- Demonstrated experience managing medical records (requests, follow-up, organization, chronology/summaries)
- Strong understanding of litigation workflow, discovery practices, and deadline management
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and document organization skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PPT) and PDF tools (Adobe)
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications (Plus):
- Trial experience (trial binders/exhibits/witness prep)
- Familiarity with local/state e-filing systems
- Experience with case management software (Aderant, NetDocs & SurePoint - Practice Pro)
- Notary public
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience)
