Medical Nurse Practitioner

South County Psychiatry (SCP) is an enterprise that serves adults, children, and families in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. SCP provides psychiatry, behavioral health, and weight and wellness services to its consumers.

Title: Medical Nurse Practitioner

Primary Function:

The Medical Nurse Practitioner at the Weight and Wellness Institute will provide comprehensive, integrated care to patients in the community. Providers are responsible for conducting evaluations, diagnosing conditions, treatment planning, prescribing appropriate medication, and providing medication management for patients via Telehealth and in-office. This position is a full-time clinical position: Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 6:30 pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive new patient evaluations, including medical history, physical assessment, and metabolic risk stratification
  • Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for obesity and related conditions
  • Prescribe and manage anti-obesity medications (AOMs), including GLP-1 receptor agonists and other therapies as appropriate
  • Monitor patient progress, including weight, body composition, and metabolic markers
  • Collaborate closely with registered dietitians, behavioral health specialists, and exercise professionals
  • Document all patient encounters accurately in the EMR
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous program development
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, treatment plan, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries
  • Support a positive, respectful, and patient-centered clinic culture

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing
  • Board-certified Nurse Practitioner (FNP, ANP, or AGNP)
  • Current state NP license
  • Current DEA license (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience providing high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Interest or experience in weight management, obesity, or metabolic health preferred
  • Experience prescribing anti-obesity medications (e.g., GLP-1s) preferred
  • Familiarity with lifestyle interventions or medically supervised weight loss programs preferred
  • Training or certification in obesity medicine (e.g., Obesity Medicine Association)
  • Experience with body composition analysis tools (e.g., InBody, Tanita)

Supervision:

  • Supervision not required

Pay: $130,000.00 per year
