Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Office Administrator & Billing Specialist to manage front-desk operations and insurance billing. This role is ideal for someone with medical training who enjoys working with families and contributing to a supportive, growing pediatric clinic.
Responsibilities
Front Office & Patient Experience
- Welcome and greet all patients and families in person and by phone
- Schedule appointments and manage incoming inquiries
- Update patient demographics and insurance information in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
Insurance & Billing
- Verify insurance benefits and eligibility (commercial, Medicaid, and self-pay)
- Prepare and submit insurance claims through the EHR
- Obtain prior authorizations and referrals when required
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims using effective medical collection strategies
- Maintain accurate records of claims, correspondence, and billing activities
- Collect co-pays and co-insurance payments
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical office administration or healthcare support roles within clinics or dental offices
- Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and familiarity with insurance processes including Medicaid
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
- Deep understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
