Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent customer service at all times
  • Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
  • Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks including Medicare and Medicaid processing
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Handle multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately
  • Maintain accurate medical records, ensuring proper filing and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers for appointment scheduling, care plans, and follow-up visits
  • Ensure confidentiality of health information and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines
  • Ensure office space and bathrooms are cleaned and stocked, ie...toilet paper, soap, trash

Experience

  • Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and insurance verification processes
  • Strong clerical skills including typing (10 key typing), data entry, filing, and document review
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and phone etiquette
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to assist diverse patient populations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion while maintaining high levels of accuracy in documentation review and billing procedures
