Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Office Receptionist to join our Primary Care Clinic team. Bilingual in English/Spanish is REQUIRED. Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service while managing check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and coordinate insurance verification using Athenahealth.
- Schedule patient appointments accurately utilizing electronic health record (EHR) Athenahealth.
- Collect and process payments, perform medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with professionalism.
- Maintain accurate medical records by reviewing documentation for completeness and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages when necessary.
- Assist with administrative support tasks including filing, data entry, document review, and managing medical records when applicable.
- Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating care plans, and assisting with basic medical administrative duties related to patient care coordination.
- Ensure office supplies are stocked and the front desk area remains organized to promote an efficient work environment.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is required; clinic experience is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) Athenahealth is essential.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), including ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes used for billing and documentation purposes.
- Experience with medical billing, insurance verification processes, and Medicare regulations is highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing accuracy (including 10-key typing) is necessary.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a requirement for this particular job posting.
- Excellent organizational skills combined with clerical experience such as filing, documentation review, and office management are essential for success in this role.
