Medical Payment Poster

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Medical Payment Poster to join our revenue cycle team. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely posting of all payments, adjustments, and denials received from insurance carriers and patients.

The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for discrepancies, a solid understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), and the ability to navigate electronic remittance advice (ERA) files with ease.

Responsibilities

• Payment Entry: Accurately post insurance and patient payments to accounts via manual entry or electronic imports.
• ERA & EOB Analysis: Interpret Explanation of Benefits and Electronic Remittance Advice to ensure payments match contracted rates.
• Adjustment Management: Process contractual adjustments, write-offs, and recoupments based on insurance guidelines.
• Reconciliation: Balance daily posting batches and ensure they match bank deposits or merchant reports.
• Denial Tracking: Identify and code denials, routing them to the appropriate billing or appeals specialist for resolution.
• Data Integrity: Update patient account information to reflect secondary insurance billing or balance transfers to patient responsibility.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing, medical collection, or medical office administration
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare coding systems including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for payment posting and record keeping
• Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in data entry and record management
• Ability to interpret complex insurance explanations of benefits (EOBs) and remittance advice statements
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and insurance representatives
• Prior experience with medical office procedures and familiarity with medical records management is preferred

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
