Medical Practice Administrator

Company Overview

The Eye Center is an independently owned, physician-led ophthalmology practice that has proudly served Central New Jersey for many years. Our physicians are actively involved in guiding the practice's clinical standards, operational priorities, patient experience, and long-term growth.

We are a well-established, high-volume ophthalmology practice with locations in Warren, Piscataway, and Edison.

Each office includes a full-service optical shop, allowing us to provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and optical eye care.

The practice has an experienced support team already in place, including dedicated billing and revenue cycle staff.

This allows the Practice Administrator to focus on leadership, operational improvement, staff coordination, financial oversight, and continued growth.

We are seeking an experienced, energetic Practice Administrator to join our leadership team and help oversee daily operations, financial performance, staff management, patient flow, and continued operational growth across our three locations.

The Role

The Practice Administrator will serve as a key operational leader responsible for managing the day-to-day performance of our multi-site ophthalmology practice. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for all three offices and requiring close collaboration with physician leadership, managers, clinical staff, billing, front desk teams, and optical staff.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading in a busy medical environment, improving workflows, managing staff, monitoring financial performance, and helping the practice operate efficiently while maintaining a high standard of patient care.

Duties:

Multi-Site Operations

Provide consistent leadership and oversight across the Warren, Piscataway, and Edison locations.

Workflow and Staffing

Evaluate and improve scheduling, patient flow, staffing models, and day-to-day office efficiency.

Financial and Revenue Cycle Management

Manage practice financial performance, monitor P&L; results, support budgeting, oversee billing and collections performance, and help optimize revenue cycle processes for both medical and optical services.

Human Resources and Team Leadership

Lead recruitment, onboarding, staff development, performance management, and employee accountability across multiple departments.

Compliance and Reporting

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, NJ regulatory requirements, and practice policies. Monitor MIPS and other quality/reporting programs for accuracy and timely completion.

Optical Coordination

Work with optical managers and staff to support retail optical performance, coordination with the medical practice, and patient service.

Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years of medical practice management experience.
  • Ophthalmology experience preferred, but not required for candidates with strong medical practice management experience.
  • Multi-site management experience preferred.
  • Experience with billing, coding, collections, scheduling, staffing, and workflow improvement.
  • Familiarity with optical operations, VSP, EyeMed, and vision insurance is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MHA, MBA, or similar advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced healthcare administrator to join a respected, independently owned, physician-led ophthalmology practice and play a meaningful role in improving operations, supporting growth, and maintaining an excellent patient experience.
