<Responsibilities>
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in and check-out processes
- Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, ensuring optimal clinic flow
- Verify insurance coverage, conduct insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing with accuracy
- Manage patient records by updating and maintaining electronic health records (EHR systems) like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness, including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and care plan documentation
- Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing information or directing calls appropriately with excellent phone etiquette
- Assist with billing processes, including medical collection procedures and Medicare/Medicaid claims submission
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and office supplies while supporting overall office management tasks
<Skills>
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills including 10-key typing for data entry tasks
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities
- Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and handle insurance-related documentation review efficiently
- Bilingual capabilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable to understand healthcare workflows and office management practices
