Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our fast-paced, thriving medical family practice office. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while efficiently managing administrative tasks. Your expertise in medical administrative support, familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, and strong communication skills will help streamline clinic operations and enhance patient experiences. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality healthcare delivery through exceptional front desk management, accurate documentation review, and effective insurance verification.

Duties

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent patient service and phone etiquette throughout their visit
  • Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software using e-MDs
  • Verify insurance coverage and patient demographic information
  • Manage medical records and documentation review, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating electronic health records
  • Handle multi-line phone systems efficiently, directing calls appropriately and managing appointment reminders
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry, typing (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical files

Skills

  • Strong work ethic, adaptability, and flexibility to the demands of a busy medical practice
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing procedures
  • Experience with EMR systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for administrative tasks and reporting
  • Familiarity with health information management practices including HIPAA compliance and insurance verification processes
  • Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clear communication abilities
  • Ability to perform medical office management tasks such as appointment scheduling, intake processing, and care plan coordination
  • Previous clinic or dental office experience is preferred to ensure familiarity with office workflows
