Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing outstanding customer service at the front desk
- Schedule patient appointments using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks and verification for Medicare, Medicaid, and other plans
- Manage medical records, including filing, retrieving, and updating patient information in systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Process medical billing and collections accurately using medical coding standards such as CPT, ICD-9/10, ICD coding, and HIPAA compliance guidelines
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently and taking detailed messages when necessary
- Assist with intake procedures, including data entry of patient information and documentation review to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area while managing appointment schedules to optimize clinic flow
- Support office management tasks such as filing, faxing, copying documents, and managing health information management protocols
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role with clinic or dental office experience
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with medical billing processes, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, and insurance verification procedures
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology and healthcare documentation review processes
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations with confidentiality and professionalism
- Bilingual skills are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and familiarity with health information management software
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and documentation review
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service excellence and phone etiquette
- Previous office or clerical experience in a healthcare setting is preferred; dental clinic experience is a plus
