Duties

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and clear directions.
  • Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
  • Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate billing processes.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring accurate documentation review and data entry.
  • Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, practicing proper phone etiquette to address inquiries promptly.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including filing, data entry, and updating patient information within various EHR systems.
  • Assist with medical billing and collection processes, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare documentation review.
  • Support clinic operations by managing medical scheduling, appointment reminders, and care plan documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as typing reports, managing office supplies, and supporting office management activities.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
  • Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with dental terminology and dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and data entry accuracy with 10 key typing proficiency.
  • Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette for handling patient inquiries and appointment scheduling.
  • Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately using tools like insurance portals or third-party verification systems.
  • Experience with health information management practices including filing, documentation review, and record keeping.
  • Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Previous clinic or dental office experience is preferred to ensure seamless integration into our team’s workflow.

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
