Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical administrative procedures, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for managing patient appointments, verifying insurance information, maintaining accurate medical records, and providing exceptional patient service to ensure smooth clinic operations. Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression and efficient check-in process.
- Schedule appointments accurately using EMR Athenahealth.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring all documentation is complete and current.
- Manage patient intake processes, including collecting necessary information and updating medical records in systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix.
- Handle phone inquiries with professional etiquette, directing calls appropriately and providing information as needed.
- Assist with medical billing and collections by processing payments and following up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain organized filing of medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
- Support clinic operations by coordinating care plans, reviewing documentation for accuracy, and assisting with medical coding such as CPT, ICD-9, or ICD-10 codes when necessary.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and insurance verification processes.
- Experience in medical billing, collections, and documentation review to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and specialized health information management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Exceptional patient service skills with a friendly demeanor and effective phone etiquette.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Bilingual English and Spanish a must.
- Prior clinic or healthcare office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology or hospital settings is a plus.
