Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and answering multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Schedule patient appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, ensuring optimal clinic flow.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and process medical collections in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage medical records and documentation review, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing processes to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
- Assist with intake procedures, including patient check-in/out, collecting demographic information, and updating health information management systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized paper and electronic files.
- Collaborate with clinical staff for care plan coordination and facilitate communication regarding patient needs or appointment changes.
Experience
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred, especially within dental or hospital settings.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Experience verifying insurance benefits and Medicare claims processing is advantageous.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with dental software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is a plus.
- Bilingual abilities are desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
