Medical Receptionist and Scheduler

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist and Scheduler, where your energetic and organized approach will be vital in creating a welcoming environment for patients and supporting smooth clinic operations. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact, managing patient intake, appointment scheduling, and administrative support with enthusiasm and professionalism. Duties

  • Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Prompt EMR while managing calendar availability effectively.
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes to facilitate seamless billing.
  • Collect and process patient information, update medical records, and review documentation for accuracy in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with medical billing and collections by coding procedures with CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes such as ICD-9/ICD-10.
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly and directing calls appropriately.
  • Maintain organized filing of medical records, handle data entry tasks including 10-key typing, and ensure all documentation aligns with health information management standards.
  • Support clinic operations by reviewing care plans, assisting with intake procedures, and coordinating appointment follow-ups.
  • Utilize office management software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Collect co pays.
  • Uphold confidentiality standards by adhering to HIPAA guidelines during all patient interactions and documentation review processes.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting, preferably as a medical receptionist or front desk coordinator.
  • Some knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures Is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is desirable.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and health information management software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and support Medicare or other insurance claims processes.
  • Prior experience is preferred but not required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
