Job Title: Medical Receptionist / Medical Administrative Assistant

Location: Family Physicians of Tidewater
Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Office Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the front desk operations of our medical office, ensuring a welcoming environment for patients while efficiently handling administrative tasks. This role is crucial in providing excellent patient care and support, making it essential for candidates to possess strong communication skills and a solid understanding of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, confirmations, and cancellations.
  • Collect patient information and verify insurance details, including Medicare and other insurance plans.
  • Process patient check-ins and check-outs, including collecting co-pays and overdue balances
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with medical coding and billing processes as needed.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure smooth office operations.

Skills

  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and dental terminology is preferred.
  • Experience in a medical office setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification processes, including Medicare.
  • Proficient in front desk operations and customer service.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic understanding of medical coding principles is a plus.
