Medical Records Clerk/Legal Assistant

Personal Injury firm in the Greenway Plaza area looking for a Medical Records Clerk/Legal Assistant.

This role focuses on managing a high volume of medical records requests and retrieval that requires exceptional organization and meticulous attention to detail. This role supports departmental needs by requesting, tracking, and obtaining medical and billing records from hospitals and healthcare providers.

Experience in medical records retrieval/management is not required but highly desirable. Pay commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and send medical record request correspondence.
  • Retrieving medical and billings records in admissible form.
  • Conduct follow-ups with provider offices via phone, email, and online portals.
  • Maintain tracking logs and ensure all requests are completed on time.
  • Send out authorizations, HIPAA’s and make sure to follow up.
  • Track requests, follow up consistently, and escalate delayed requests appropriately.
  • Scan and save all medical records and billing received via US mail, email, and fax.
  • Obtain final bills, itemized statements, and supporting documentation needed for litigation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with sensitive client medical information.

Qualifications

  • Must have great time-management skills and organizational skills.
  • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1-3 years of Personal Injury experience required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experienced with research, making accurate requests, consistent with all modes of communication to providers and the team.
  • Experience requesting medical records from various medical providers.
  • Must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills combined with professional phone etiquette for interacting with clients and team members.
  • This role is ideal for someone who is organized, consistent, detail-driven, and comfortable working with high volumes of documents while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
