Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office operations and be proficient in managing electronic health records (EHR) systems. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of patient records while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The Medical Records Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers and patients by managing medical records efficiently and accurately. Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize patient medical records, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Input, update, and retrieve patient information using EHR systems.
  • Review medical documents for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to medical terminology standards.
  • Assist healthcare providers in accessing patient records as needed for treatment and care coordination.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Respond to requests for medical records from authorized personnel while adhering to privacy policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline record management processes and improve efficiency.

Skills

  • Preferred: Training in Medical Terminology and Human Anatomy.
  • Preferred: Certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in patient health information or medical records scanning.
  • Required: Exceptional customer service skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems is essential for effective record management.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in record keeping.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations related to patient privacy and record management. Job Type: Part-time
