Hearing Instrument Specialist Apprenticeship / Patient Care Coordinator

Ready 2 Hear is offering a paid apprenticeship opportunity for a motivated individual who wants to build a long-term career in hearing healthcare.

This role begins as a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) supporting both our Twin Falls and Bellevue offices while you are trained and mentored to become a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist (HIS) in the state of Idaho.

This is a hands-on, structured role designed for someone who is ready to learn, grow, and take ownership of both patient experience and professional development.

Position Overview

This position is intentionally designed in two phases, with clear expectations at each stage.

Phase 1: Patient Care Coordinator (Front Office & Operations)

As the Patient Care Coordinator, you are the backbone of the clinic. You will be responsible for ensuring the office runs smoothly, professionally, and efficiently.

Patient & Front Office Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and create a welcoming, professional environment
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage provider calendars
  • Assist patients with paperwork and next-step expectations
  • Handle patient follow-ups, reminders, and basic communication

Insurance & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance benefits (private insurance, Medicare-related plans, etc.)
  • Explain insurance coverage and patient responsibilities clearly
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Assist with billing-related coordination as needed

Office & Inventory Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional office environment
  • Clean and prepare exam rooms and patient areas
  • Check, track, and maintain hearing aid and supply inventory
  • Receive shipments and ensure products are properly logged and stored
  • Assist with basic equipment upkeep and organization

You will work in both the Twin Falls and Bellevue offices as needed.

Phase 2: Hearing Instrument Specialist Apprenticeship (Training While Working)

While performing your PCC duties, you will simultaneously be enrolled in an apprenticeship and training pathway to become a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist.

During this phase, you will:

  • Study for and prepare to pass Idaho state licensing exams
  • Learn hearing evaluations and diagnostic testing
  • Gain hands-on experience with hearing aid technology
  • Learn patient counseling and treatment planning
  • Assist in fittings, adjustments, and follow-up care
  • Be mentored directly by an experienced Hearing Instrument Specialist

This phase requires self-discipline, study time, and commitment, but you will be fully supported with hands-on training and mentorship.

Compensation & Career Growth

Starting Salary (Patient Care Coordinator / Apprentice):

  • $35,000-45,000 Annually

Once Licensed as a Hearing Instrument Specialist:

  • $70,000 – $150,000+ annually
  • Performance-based compensation
  • Revenue-based profit sharing
  • Strong performers are directly rewarded for results

  • Interested in healthcare, patient care, and/or medical sales
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a strong plus!

No prior hearing industry experience required — we train the right person.
Customer service or sales experience is a plus.
