Medical Scheduler/Billing Assistant

Busy, private general surgery practice specializing in Bariatric Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery and Age Medicine. Our practice consists of four surgeons and a dedicated support team committed to providing exceptional patient care.

We are seeking an experienced Patient Intake, Scheduling & Billing Assistant who will serve as the primary point of contact between our patients and the practice. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the new patient experience—from initial phone call through scheduling and financial coordination—while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and a high level of customer service.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing incoming new patient calls, educating patients on our services, scheduling consultations, and collecting patient demographics and insurance information. This role requires a strong understanding of insurance as well as the ability to explain our practice’s out-of-network structure and patient financial responsibilities.

Additional responsibilities include verifying insurance coverage, handling patient inquiries, triaging messages to clinical and administrative staff, and supporting the billing department with billing tasks and insurance-related follow-up.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable discussing insurance and financial matters, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-specialty environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Answer and manage incoming new patient phone calls professionally and efficiently
  • Educate prospective patients on our services
  • Schedule patient consultations accurately and timely
  • Collect and verify patient demographics and insurance information
  • Explain our practice’s out-of-network structure and patient financial responsibility
  • Assist the billing department with billing tasks
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive patient experience

Skills

  • Previous experience in a medical receptionist/scheduler role
  • Strong understanding of insurance verification, including in-network and out-of-network benefits
  • Basic knowledge of medical billing
  • Excellent communication and phone skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • High school degree

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
