Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented In-Person Medical Scribe to support our providers onsite at our Bronx location. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring accurate clinical documentation, improving patient flow, and enhancing provider efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

Clinical Documentation & Provider Support

  • Provide real-time, in-room medical scribing for physical exams, assessments, and treatment plans
  • Document patient history, ROS, HPI, procedures, diagnostics, and follow-up instructions
  • Assist providers in completing charts during and after the clinical encounter
  • Ensure accurate documentation of lab tests, imaging, referrals, and e-prescriptions
  • Support triaging by collecting medical history and completing preventive questionnaires

Billing & Coding Accuracy

  • Encode and assign billing codes per insurance and compliance guidelines
  • Verify that all performed procedures are properly documented
  • Escalate missing or questionable documentation to the provider

Operational Support

  • Review posted results and report discrepancies
  • Coordinate and schedule recurring and follow-up appointments
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and data privacy standards

Job Requirements

Education:
  • Must be a graduate of a medical-related course (Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Medical Technology, Radiology, Clinical Psychology, etc.)

  • HIPAA Certification required (or willingness to complete prior to start)

Experience:
  • Required: Prior medical scribe experience (in-person or virtual)

  • Preferred: Strong knowledge of medical billing and coding
  • Experience working in clinical settings is highly valued
  • Familiarity with EMRs such as eClinicalWorks (ECW) preferred

Skills and Qualification

  • Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and adapt to clinic workflows
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical staff
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional and patient-centered demeanor

Schedule Requirements

  • Ability to work part-time or per diem
  • Must be willing to work onsite at our Bronx clinic
  • Flexibility for rotating shifts depending on clinic needs
