- Real-time Documentation: Documenting accurate, detailed, and timely notes during patient encounters (history, exam, assessment, plan).
- EHR Management: Navigating the EHR system to input patient information, including documenting findings from physical exams and diagnostic tests.
- Information Retrieval: Locating previous medical records, lab results, and imaging reports for the physician to review.
- Patient Interaction: Often accompanying the physician into the exam room to record patient interviews.
- Administrative Tasks: Assisting with clerical tasks, such as typing up discharge instructions or coordinating referrals, under the direction of the provider.
