Medical Scribe Job Description

This position is not office-based. Rather, scribes accompany Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) providers on visits at inpatient facilities in their territory. The successful candidate will work collaboratively as part of a team with our field-based NPs, social workers, and physicians.

Medical Scribe Responsibilities

• Interact with providers, patients and facilities
• Facilitate patient flow to ensure the accurate and complete medical record processing of each patient
• Assist the Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatrist by accompanying them throughout the patient visit, recording details into the medical records, and coordinating departmental resources regarding assessments, tests, orders and results
• Collaborate with care management providers to ensure a consistent, highly accurate documentation
• Works in our outpatient clinic, supporting the front office when not working as a Scribe

Medical Scribe Position Requirements

• High School Diploma required; LPN/MA/CNA preferred
• Minimum of 2 years experience in medical office/clinic/hospital required
• Must be a proficient typist with excellent communication and organization skills
• Ability and willingness to travel to healthcare facilities within a 1-1.5 hour radius of Cullman, AL
• Must have a valid Alabama drivers license and the ability to be covered under IBH auto insurance.
• Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA
