The Medical Scribe plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers by accurately documenting patient encounters in real-time. This position is ideal for Med Students, Medical Assistants or other individuals seeking to gain more hands-on experience in a medical setting while enhancing their understanding of medical terminology and documentation processes. The Medical Scribe will work one on one with a physician to ensure comprehensive and precise medical records are maintained.
Duties
- Accurately transcribe patient encounters, including history, physical examinations, and treatment plans during medical visits.
- Document medical records in compliance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring all information is complete and accurate.
- Assist healthcare providers by managing electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring timely updates and retrieval of patient information.
- Maintain familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to facilitate effective communication with healthcare professionals.
- Support the medical office by organizing patient charts and ensuring all necessary documentation is available for appointments.
- Collaborate with the physician to streamline processes and improve patient care delivery.
Skills
- Proficient in using EHR systems for medical documentation and record management. EPIC experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to accurately document clinical information.
- Ability to type efficiently while maintaining attention to detail during patient interactions.
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and protocols related to patient care and documentation.
- Experience or familiarity with primary care/pediatric settings is a plus but not required.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with the physician and patients.
