Medication Refill Specialist (Medical Assistant)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medication Refill Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting patient care by managing and processing incoming medication refill requests and inquiries in a timely, accurate and compliant manner. This position serves as a liaison between patients, providers, pharmacies and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care and medication policy adherence. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of cardiology medications, medical terminology, and departmental and practice protocols. Working knowledge of the workflow within triage to assist with other ancillary items. It is important to note that this is a non-patient-facing role, focusing solely on administrative tasks in a call-center environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Receives, assesses, and completes all incoming requests for medication refills.
  • Verify patient information, medication history, and refill eligibility according to established processes.
  • Ensure timely processing of all refill requests while maintaining accuracy and compliance with departmental standards
  • Work with leadership to facilitate and implement any change requests related to medication refills
  • Manage additional tasks assigned to ensure alignment with operational protocols
  • Assist colleagues as needed to maintain workflow within the department
  • Adhere strictly to department protocols, guidelines, and regulatory requirements at all times
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing development of best practices within the department
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulation at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
