Medication Technician (Med Tech) – Evening Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Job Summary
Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Medication Technician (Med Tech) on the Evening Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM). In this vital role, you will support residents by accurately administering medications, monitoring health status, and ensuring safe medication practices within assisted living, nursing home, or hospice environments. Your expertise in medication management and compassionate care will help enhance residents' quality of life while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies. Duties

  • Safely administer prescribed medications to residents according to physician orders and facility protocols, including oral, topical, injectable, and tube feeding medications.
  • Monitor and document residents’ vital signs, responses to medications, and overall health status using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including catheter care, tube feeding, and other personal care tasks aligned with residents’ care plans.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborate closely with nursing staff and healthcare providers to report changes in resident conditions and update medical records accordingly.
  • Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care, providing compassionate assistance tailored to individual requirements.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to medication storage, handling, and disposal while adhering to state and federal regulations.

Skills

  • Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments with a focus on senior or hospice care.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and nursing practices related to medication administration.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments like Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
  • Excellent caregiving skills combined with compassion and patience when supporting residents’ physical and emotional needs.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards for safeguarding sensitive medical records and information.
  • Experience working with medical equipment such as vital sign monitors or catheterization supplies is preferred.
