Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to ensure residents’ health status is maintained
  • Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and document all medication administration in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease through specialized memory care techniques and behavior management strategies
  • Assist with meal preparation and feeding to promote proper nutrition while respecting individual dietary needs
  • Use assistive devices like Hoyer lifts safely to support mobility and prevent injury during transfers
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties within residents’ rooms and common areas
  • Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to foster a positive community atmosphere
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and team members to develop personalized care plans that reflect each resident’s unique needs

Requirements

  • Prior experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of caring for individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is essential
  • Certification or training in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in medication administration or EMR systems are a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and provide compassionate personal care in a respectful manner
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral challenges is advantageous
  • Valid driver’s license for driving responsibilities related to home & community care roles
  • Strong communication skills combined with patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude toward resident well-being
