Member Engagement Manager

Job Description:


Project-manage programs, projects, and initiatives within the STS Member Engagement area. Manage project timelines and deliverables, coordinate workforce and task force activities, and ensure programs are measured against established goals such as engagement and member satisfaction. Lead digital engagement efforts, including the development of social media and other digital content, in collaboration with the STS Marketing area.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage project plans for all Member Engagement programs, initiatives, and activities, including those led by the Workforce on Career Development.

  • Utilize project management software to track progress, assign tasks, monitor deadlines, and report on outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain metrics to evaluate program effectiveness (e.g., engagement rates, member satisfaction, participation levels).

  • Manage workflows for member engagement-related workforces, task forces, and committees, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and tracking follow-up items.

  • Collaborate with other STS staff areas and leadership groups as needed to develop cross-organizational content and engagement opportunities.

  • Develop, implement, and oversee digital engagement programs that connect members through social media and online platforms.

  • Produce and publish digital content (e.g., social media posts, website updates, email communications) to support member engagement activities.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing area on content creation to ensure consistency and alignment with broader organizational messaging.

  • Engage directly with members in person and through digital platforms to encourage participation and foster connections.

  • Provide administrative support for workforce and task force meetings, including drafting meeting notes and tracking action items.

  • Prepare regular reports on project status, performance metrics, and outcomes for leadership review.

  • Engage with members on site at STS Annual Meeting and other events as needed.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned.


Experience and Skills:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred.

  • A minimum of five years membership services, communications, and/or marketing experience is required, preferably within an association environment.

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience is also considered.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across teams

  • Expertise in using a membership CRM or an association management system

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Experience with social media and video production software

  • Experience with project management software such as Monday or Smartsheet

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-through capabilities

  • Analytical thinking, sharp attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn

  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously

  • Ability to engage face to face with members to create content such as videos, interviews, discussions and focus groups

  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, volunteer leaders, other organizations, and industry contacts; tact, diplomacy, and good judgment

  • Positive attitude in the workplace

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing daily activities and schedules

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Ability to travel to meetings as needed such as the STS Annual Meeting and STS Boot Camp

Job Benefits:

The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000 annually. Actual compensation will be dependent on a candidate's relevant experience, skills, training, certifications/licenses and qualifications.
